Wherever you choose to stay in the Sunny Algarve there is always a Golf Course on your doorstep; it is truly a Golfing Paradise. The temperate climate is perfect to play this ancient and demanding sport for at least 9 months of the year. Nestled between the Ria Formosa estuary and the magnificent umbrella pines, these Algarve golf courses create their own individual challenges for potting that elusive white ball!

The Ria Formosa is one of Portugal's most important protected wetlands, being a designated Ramsar site and a Zone of Special Protection that includes the Nature Park of the Ria Formosa, which covers an area of 14.000 hectares and a stop-over for hundreds of different species of birds, such as Black-necked Grebe, the Purple Swamp-hen and the Greater Flamingo during the Spring and Autumn migratory periods.

Quinta do Lago hosts 81 captivating holes of golf, some of the best in Europe, the newest of which is the 18 hole Laranjal course. São Lourenço is the perfect base, right in the middle of an unrivalled golfing experience. Nearby Pinheiros Altos is also established as one of the most successful premier golf courses with 27 testing golf holes.

Even more Championship golf courses can be found in nearby Vale do Lobo; the Portuguese Open was held there in 2004 and was won that year by Miguel Angel Jimenez. There are the Royal and the Ocean courses, which both have spectacular views of the beaches towards the Atlantic and surrounded by umbrella pines with several signature holes. The most memorable of these is the famous 16th, with its challenging tee across the red cliff tops, so typical of the Algarve coast. Our villas in Vale do Lobo are all ideally placed for you to enjoy all the delights that this area has to offer.

Vilamoura is also another golfing capital of the Algarve, with 5 Championship golf courses within easy reach of each other. These are all owned by the Oceanico group and include the Millennium, Old Course, Pinhal and Laguna. One of the most prestigious competitions in Europe being held each year in Vilamoura is the Portugal Masters and it’s home is the demanding Oceanico Victoria golf course (2009 winner, Lee Westwood and the victor of 2010, Richard Green will testify to this). The Victoria Boulevard apartments and townhouses are surrounded by this course and have first class views and access to the golf course, as well as the nearby beautiful beaches (for the non-golfers!) at Falésia, Santa Eulalia, etc.
